Football season is officially in full swing......
Fantasy Draft completed....check
The champs winning game one at home....check
Madden curse in full effect....half a check...Polamalu is out for 3-6 weeks due to a sprained MCL. Let's see if Fitzgerald can survive week one unscathed!
Fantasy Football is an amazing thing, and it's hard to believe that I just realized it last season. I've always been interested, but it wasn't until I joined a league last year that I fell in love.
This year, I was much more prepared for my draft and I think I did a hell of a job picking my team - snagging Brandon Jacobs, Chris Johnson, Santonio Holmes, Philip Rivers, etc. despite being stuck with 10th (last) pick!
My brother and boyfriend (fantasy virgins) are both in my league this year....all I have to say is that since our draft (Wed night) we have spent many HOURS discussing our picks, planning our lineups and checking stats...it hasn't even been 48 hours! I have a feeling my productivity at work is about to make a steep decline...how can I possibly resist this powerful drug called Fantasy Football!
I think part of the reason I love Fantasy Football so much is it give me something to cheer for other than the Lions. Please don't misunderstand that statement...I love the Lions, but being a Lions fan can be very very depressing at times,
and without something else to look forward to on Sundays it can become a very tough day to handle.
and without something else to look forward to on Sundays it can become a very tough day to handle. The Lions are a new team this year - new coach, new players, new logo (like that matters). There's a lot to be excited about...and a lot to be terrified about. The D-Line hasn't made many changes, so our linebackers are going to have to work way to hard to keep us competetive. The Lions are going to need really strong defense this year to support our Rookie QB. Stafford will be exciting to watch, but you can't rest the fate of a team on the shoulders of a rookie. I'm excited to see what happens this Sunday against the Saints - tough first game for an 0-16 team, but I'm forever optimistic that the Lions will win every Sunday! I am slightly torn, however, because the Saints WR Colston is on my fantasy team so I'm hoping he plays really well, but that the Lions as a whole play better and defeat Drew Brees and the Saints.
